BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will address a public meeting at Dhamtari in Mahasamund lok Sabha constituency at 3 pm on April 11.
This would be Modi’s second campaign tour of Chhattisgarh after he addressed a public meeting at Maoist hotbed Kondagaon on March 28. The Mahasamund seat will be locked in a stiff contest between BJP’s Chandulal Sahu and former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi.
The BJP in a strategic move had invited Modi again to Chhattisgarh to address a public meeting in Dhamtari to strengthen its position in the face of a strong Congress candidate fielded against its Chandulal Sahu for the Mahasamund seat.
On April 11, Modi would arrive from Odisha’s capital Bhubaneswar in Raipur at 2.40 pm and later travel by a helicopter to reach Rudri in Dhamtari district at 3 pm.After addressing the public meeting at Dhamtari, Modi would return to Raipur by a helicopter to Swami Vivekananda airport and depart for Ahmedabad at 5 pm.
Meanwhile, Chandulal Sahu on Tuesday was on a public contact tour of several villages in the Bindranavagarh Assembly segment. He told the villagers of Umarpal, Bhojipadar, Amlipadar, Moodgailmaal, Sarnabahal, Godipari and Barsa that the Congress party had promised to bring down the prices of essential commodities within 100 days of coming to power last time. But, on the contrary, the prices shot up.
Chhattisgarh goes to the polls in three phases - April 10, 17 and 24 - for a total of 11 lok Sabha seats. The BJP had won 10 seats in the state in the last parliamentary polls in 2009.
