Mystery has shrouded the death of a 25 year old married woman identified as Priya Rani in Daltonganj said sources. Sources said the body showed signs of suicide and by hanging as tongue had protruded and the bone of the neck was twisted. There was no suicidal note.
Priya Rani daughter of Prabhu Narain Gupta hailed from Ambikapur in Chhatisgarh. Gupta's ancestral house is in Garhwa district's Dhurki police station but has settled down in Chhatisgarh's Ambikapur. Gupta got the news of his daughter's death on phone from his son in law Sidharth.
She was married just 5 months back to an lIC agent Achutya Raj Sidharth here in Daltonganj. Confirming this death of the married woman officer in charge of Daltonganj police station SK Malviya said prima facie she died by hanging and she had suicidal marks on her body but the police will find out the reasons behind this abatement to suicide.
Malviya said the deceased's father Prabhu Narain Gupta has lodged the FIR against his son in law Sidharth, his mother and his sister.
Police officer said this incident took place on the intervening night of December 3-4. Daltonganj police have detained Sidharth his mother and his sister.
Any death which occurs within 7 years of marriage comes under Dowry Act. Malviya said Gupta has given in writing that his daughter was tortured for dowry. A lap top was said to be the bone of contention which Malviya said the police have seized.
