Mukesh Gupta ousted from State Intelligence

Published on:

In a surprise decision, the Chhattisgarh Government on Monday night ousted Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Mukesh Gupta from the chief of the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) post though he would continue to head Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) and Economic Offences Wing (EOW).

Gupta who is considered as one of the daring police officers of the country, was at the loggerheads with a group of IAS officers in recent weeks for his stepped up anti-corruption campaign against the IAS officers.

Even, a delegation of the IAS officers has recently called on Chief Minister Raman Singh and had complained against Gupta for his 'extra interest in selectively targeting IAS officers through his drive in name of corruption'. Reports say that IPS officer Ashok Juneja who is secretary, home department, will succeed Gupta as the SIB chief while another IPS

officer Arun Dev Gautam will be the new home secretary in the Chhattisgarh Government.
