MPs keep fingers crossed over Union Cabinet berth

Published on:

Suspense over Chhattisgarh’s MPs getting a berth in the Union Cabinet is continuing.

Uneasiness could be seen among some senior MPs of the State. Significant thing is that even the BJP national president Rajnath Singh is unable to provide any assurance on the issue to the MPs from Chhattisgarh right now.

The BJP has won 10 out of 11 lok Sabha seats in the State for the third consecutive time. Earlier, Ramesh Bais, Raman Singh and the late Dilip Singh Judev from Chhattisgarh had been Ministers in the NDA Government.

In an informal discussion, a senior MP of the party here remarked that at present even the party’s National president Rajnath Singh is clueless about who will be included in the Union Cabinet.

Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi is dealing with the issue of selecting his Cabinet colleagues in consultation with senior party leaders.

Former Union Minister Ramesh Bais, member of Rajya Sabha Nandkumar Sai and Vishnudev Sai had also greeted Modi at the Central Hall of parliament but could not meet him thereafter separately, party sources informed.

All the three MPs are pinning hopes on Modi to include them in the Union Cabinet.

Important thing is that Modi is aware of the abilities of the leaders of Chhattisgarh. The PM-designate has personally known Bais for many years, but it is still unclear that Chhatisgarh’s MPs would get berth in the Union Cabinet

or not. Some State level leaders say about MPs from Chhattisgarh might get one or two berths in the Union Cabinet. But some others consider that there would be less possibility of Chhattisgarh getting representation in the Union Cabinet this time round as its size is small.
