Preparations are under way to promote more than a dozen Indian Forest Service (IFS)officers. According to sources, five additional principal chief conservators of forest and 10 chief conservators of forest will be given promotions at the departmental committee meeting scheduled on August 30.

The sources said that the Central Government had given sanction for creation of 5 additional principal chief conservators of forest (APCCF) and 10 chief conservators of forest (CCF) non-cadre posts. The State Government had sent a proposal to the Centre for cadre review, but it has been delayed due to technical reasons. later the Government had sent a proposal to the Centre for non-cadre posts, on which preparations were under way for promotions, after getting approval from the Centre, the sources added.

It was said that 1984 batch IFS officers were likely to be promoted to the post of APCCF. The officers who were likely to be promoted include RK Tamta, Pratap Singh, SC Agrawal, RK Singh, KC Bewartha, Mudit Kumar Singh and K Subramanyam.

Besides, conservator of forest level officers of 94 batch, including Shailendra Singh, SS  Bajaj, Devendra Singh, Sudhir Agrawal, Jaisingh Maske, Ashish Bhatt, Yunus Ali, V Ramarao, TK Jha, Sanjay Ojha, Anil Rai, Anil Sahu, V Shriniwas Rao, Anita Nandi, Mauris Nandi, Anand Babu, Kaushalendra Kumar, Alok Katiyar, Indranath Singh, Arun Pandey and Sunil Mishra are likely to be promoted to the post of chief conservator of forest, at the meeting scheduled on August 30. The sources said, as far as promotion was concerned, Indian Forest Service officers were far behind of other cadre officers. Indian Administrative Service officers up to 1997 batch had been promoted to the post of secretary, which is equal to the post of chief conservator of forest (CCF).

Similarly, 1994 batch Indian Police Service officers had been promoted to the post of Inspector General of Police, which is equal to the post of Secretary. But the 1988 batch IFS officers could not get promotion to the post of CCF. They were only getting the pay-scale of CCF. This was the reason that the State Government under pressure from the IFS cadre has decided to promote them and started process in this direction.
