Monsoon to get active in Chhattisgarh soon

Published on:

The south west monsoon is likely to get active in Chhattisgarh in two to three days, with moderate to heavy rains expected in many parts within 72 hours, the India Meteorological Department said on Wednesday.

Clouds are hovering over most places and heavy rains are likely to lash some isolated areas on Thursday and Friday, weather scientist H.P. Chandra said. The rains will be accompanied by gusty winds, thunderstorm and lightning. This will bring down the now soaring temperature.

He said the monsoon had reached Mumbai and the entire Konkan, most of internal Maharashtra, southern Gujarat and parts of Andhra and Telangana. It will become active in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Bihar in "next couple of days", he said.
