Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday said the BJP was insulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi by using his portrait in posters along with candidate Brahmanand Netam, an accused in the molestation of a minor tribal girl.
“The photograph of Modi with a rape accused is an insult to the Indian Prime Minister and the country will not tolerate it,” he tweeted.
Baghel appealed the voters in Bhanupratappur assembly constituency to vote for Congress candidate Savitri Mandavi to save the dignity of the Prime Minister.
Reacting, BJP leader and former Chief Minister Raman Singh said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had insulted Chhattisgarh by making Baghel the Chief Minister though he was charge-sheeted in a morphed sex CD case.
“Sensing a possible defeat in Bhanupratappur, Baghel is now attempting to encash the popularity of Modiji”, Singh said.
