Chhattisgarh Police is set to launch a ‘model police station’ in every district from January 1, it was announced on Tuesday.

Director General of Police D.M. Awasthi has issued directives to Superintendents of Police to announce at least one police station in their districts as model police station by the start of 2021, a press release said.

Good outlook of the police station, cleanliness and excellent conduct of its officers and staff will constitute a model police station.

Such a station should make a complainant feel that legitimate action is being taken on his complaint, the press release added.

Awasthi has said that those in-charge of such stations and the staff should be refined so that women, children and common people communicate easily.

The police station should crack down upon goons, anti-social elements and people with criminal nature. Records should be well maintained. Also, innovative steps must be taken under community policing, the DGP said.
