Over 200 laparoscopic expert surgeons from different parts of the country including Chhattisgarh are taking part in the workshop which began here on Friday.

The Chief Minister in his address said hosting of such workshop in Raipur is going to benefit surgeons here and eventually the people of Chhattisgarh. The State Government is going to implement surgery related suggestion tabled during the workshop.

Meanwhile, Singh also assured that training of laparoscopy surgery to surgeons posted in Government hospitals operational across the State will be taken up.

Such training to surgeons of Government hospitals was going to benefit people residing in remote areas of the State, he said.

“During the last one decade, the Government managed to ensure basic health facilities for people in the State leading to significant decline in Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR),” said Singh.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Health Minister Ajay Chandrakar said providing proper healthcare facility for everyone was a much bigger challenge than curbing Naxalism.

With dedicated effort and well planned approach, the Chhattisgarh Government managed to open five new medical colleges in the State, he said.
