MlA warns Govt of agitation for bypass road

Congress MlA Gurumukh Singh Hora on Thursday warned the State Government of staging agitation while demanding a bypass road in the district headquarters. In view of the day-to-day incidents of accidents on the National Highway, he declared to stage an agitation from January 11.

Hora, in the Press conference held at the Congress Bhawan on Thursday, said that the issue would be raised in the State Assembly on January 6. The Bypass road is the greatest need of the city now and it should not be looked at through a political viewpoint. On the announcement of Youth Congress leader Anand Pawar to start agitation for the bypass road from January 15, Hora said that he was not aware of that, but he would stage agitation from January 11. Cooperation of all organisations and common man would be sought for the agitation, he added.

Hora said that the Central Government had given sanction for the bypass road to Dhamtari and allocated Rs2 crore for initiating land requisition and other process. The Railway has completed its process. Advertisement has also been published. The State Government had to acquire land for it, which the district administration has not done so far and on the personal complaint of the municipality chairman, the demand involving public interest has been sent to the cold storage, which is not proper, he added.

He said that some land mafia had interest in the proposed land and they put hurdles, as they do not want bypass road there. As the population of the city has been increasing, two-three bypass roads should be constructed, he added.
