As people watched, Chhattisgarh Urban Administration Minister Dr. Shivkumar Dahariya on Wednesday bought vegetables from roadside vendors at Raipur-Kharora road in a bid to show that no tax is levied on roadside vegetable shops.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has abolished all types of market tax and told Collectors and municipal authorities to provide the vendors space at government playgrounds, markets, stadiums and main thoroughfares by marking them part of the vending zones in the cities.
As he made the purchases, Dahariya told officials that the vendors should not face any problem, a press release said.
The Minister bought brinjal, radish, cabbage, tomatoes and more for his home from the vendors, saying they look and smell fresh.
