At present, the flock landed on the bank of the Hasdeo River. Soon they would make their nests over the trees on the river bank. According to experts, after their nestlings grow up, they would fly away in three to four months. About 300-400 birds come to Kanki every year.

Among the migratory birds, the number of open bill stork is the largest. Other birds also make a yearly visit to this place. These migratory birds have been coming here since long, but last year many birds died due to lightning. The migratory birds are carnivorous in natire and are found in plenty on the bank of the Hasdeo River during rainy season.
