Naxal violence hit people of Bastar are finding solace in Andhra Pradesh thanks to the neighbouring State Government which providing them at least security and safety to their life and that is why they are least interested in coming back to their native villages refusing the State Government freebies flatly.
According to sources, thousands of families, who fled Bastar during the three decades of insurgency to escape the double hostility – both by Maoists and state forces- have become permanent residents of Andhra Pradesh and are living a peaceful life there. Their refusal to come back has given a jolt to state administration’s efforts to bring them back.
Notably, during last few years more than 20 thousand families of Bijapur, Sukma and Narayanpur districts have fled to Andhra Pradesh and settled there. They are living peaceful and happy life as besides security and safety of their life, they are also getting regular employment there.
Some time back, on the directives of Sukma district collector P Dayanand a team of two dozen district officials under the leadership of Sub Divisional Officer (Revenue) Surendra Prasad Baidhya and Tehsildar K l Sori had gone Andhra Pradesh to bring those families back.
But efforts of the suffered a jolt when these families reportedly refused to come back telling the district officials team emphatically that they were living a happy life as the Andhra government providing them security as well as other facilities. Now, they neither want cheaper rate food grains nor forest right pattas from the Chhattisgarh government.
