Irregularities surrounding Kivar Environ Pvt ltd echoed in the meeting of Mayor-in-Council (MiC) held on Friday at RMC office. Several other proposals could not be discussed in the meeting.
The RMC officials attending the meeting demanded that a third notice must be issued to Kivar and its contract with the civic body should be terminated. Not even a single agenda out of seven agendas could be discussed in the meeting. The MiC members complained about the poor state of cleanliness and sought the file concerning termination of Kivar’s contract. They accused the municipal officers of delaying the process of contract termination.
Tension between the MiC and RMC officials has been going on for a few months now. The MiC has suggested RMC officials to send Kivar a third proposal at the earliest. According to the sources, the meeting to discuss the pending seven agendas will now be discussed after January 26 only. Cleanliness and sanitary conditions in the several wards in the city suffered for days as municipal workers, provided by Kivar to the RMC, went on strikes frequently. The workers complained that Kivar has neither given them their full salaries nor other facilities that were promised in the contract.
The frequent strikes forced the citizens to complaint against garbage stagnation in several wards.
