The residents of Raipur who are undergoing the current spell of heat waves, faced the hottest day of the season as the temperature soared to 44.3 degree Celsius on Saturday.
However, the residents might get slight relief as the weatherman predicts partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thunderstorm on Sunday.
People felt the extreme weather and many dared not to brave it. However, those who had no option faced it but with precautions.
“I am used to hot weather since I have to go out for work. But the heat waves on Saturday made me feel as if I was inside a kiln,” said Prakit, a professional.
“I had covered my face with cloth yet I had to stop frequently to drink water and get relief from the heat,” added Prakit. Shutters of many shops were down in the afternoon and the busy markets and other public places wore a deserted look.
The markets became crowded by the evening when people came out of their houses. Similar heat conditions prevailed in other parts of the State.
