Even dip in the mercury level from 45 degree Celsius to 43 degree Celsius and scattered clouds cast intermittently over the sky brought no relief for the residents of Raipur on Sunday.
They were consoled by a thunder storm and drizzle in the evening but had to face the problem of power outage for some time.
People woke up with a covering of scattered clouds and anticipated rainfall. But their hopes were lost as the sun rays got intense by the afternoon making it unbearable.
“The weather was fine in the morning and I was expecting more clouds with advancement of the day. But things turned the other way and the sky became spotless by the afternoon making it uncomfortable under open sky,” said Rajesh Nayak, a student.
‘We had plans to go to a park for weekend but had to cancel the plan due to hot weather,” added Nayak.
People remained in their houses and it was in the evening they were relieved when the sky was overcast by heavy clouds and strong wind started blowing. Although the city was hit by a thunderstorm, it did not rain as expected by the people. It drizzled for some time and the wind carried away the clouds.
According to weatherman Raipur recorded a maximum temperature of 42.8 degree and a minimum of 31 degree Celsius.
Elsewhere in the State, Champa remained hottest in the State with a maximum temperature of 43 degree Celsius. In the forecast, the Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm may occur at isolated places in the State during the next 24 hours.
