In a gruesome incident, a mentally ill man allegedly hacked his wife and child to death here in Bhaiyathan area on Wednesday morning. The accused whose attack also injured his another 4-year-old son had been identified as Milan Singh (35) resident of Chandameda village under Bhaiyathan Police Station limits and has been arrested.
“He (Milan) killied his wife Parmeshwari (30), and a 6-month-old son Guddu with an axe. The accused had also hit his 4-year-old son with an axe but was saved,” Surajpur SP, Balaji Rao informed The Pioneer over phone.
Milan is the eldest in his family. A marriage function of his youngest sister was held on Tuesday night. Generally, the accused is not allowed to sleep with his wife considering his mental condition, the SP maintained, adding, that family was busy in marriage function when the incident happened.
“Around 5 am today (Wednesday) Milan’s mother found the body of his wife lying in a pool of blood in the veranda of the house. Milan was cuddling dead body of his six-month-old child,” Rao informed.
On getting information, the police reached the spot and arrested the accused from nearby village, SP said. According to the villagers, the accused was suffering from some mental illness for past few months and was staying with his family, the SP claimed.
The accused is said to be a distant relative of State Home Minister Ramsewak Paikra, who visited the village and took stock of the incident. A case has been registered in this connection.
