The security forces have gained considerable ground against left wing extremists (lWEs) in the insurgency-hit Kanker district of Bastar region during the ongoing special anti-naxal operation ‘Meghdoot.’
During the nearly two-month long special anti-insurgency operation, which began in July and still underway in the densely forested North Bastar’s Kanker district, as many as 32 Naxals have been arrested while six others have surrendered so far, Superintendent of Police, Kanker RN Dash informed on Monday..
“Two big camps erected by the insurgents were demolished during the operation and several ‘Naxal memorials’ were also razed down,” he said.
Dash credited the huge success of the Anti-Naxal operation to the joint efforts of District Force (DF) and BSF (Border Security Force) troopers deployed in the district.
He said that huge number of guns, detonators, ammunition, electronic items and other items have been seized from Naxals during the operation.
Dash further informed that a Naxal camp was destroyed in Panidobir area of the district where huge cache of arms and ammunition along with `65,000 cash were seized.
Similarly, in a joint operation conducted in the jungles of Rampur a Maoist camp was destroyed where arms and ammunition along with material used for making bombs and other types of explosives were also seized.
Naxal literature, banners and posters were also found in huge quantity there, Dash said.
