Massive changes are being made in the area of police stations across Chhattisgarh. Increased distance, population jump and rising security concern have forced this reshuffle.
The practical problem faced by cops during patrolling are also being said as one of the reasons being this reshuffle of police station boundaries.
The Director General of Police (DGP) Ramniwas talking with The Pioneer informed that about six months back the issue was raised in state legislative assembly that people have to face problems in approaching police stations due to its impractical locations. The issue was given a serious thought and areas of different police stations were then altered. The changes have also been made in Naxal infested areas. “It was observed that at many place bridged have been constructed at several places due to which some other police station has become easily approachable to residents of a particular area in comparison to police station under which they fall. Considering all these points changes are being made under the areas of polices stations across State.”
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Raipur talking with The Pioneer informed that the pragmatic changes would make it easy for the residents of any area to under reach police for assistance. “The changes would also enable police parties to keep a tight vigil in their respective areas thereby ensuring better safety of residents.” The changes in areas of police stations have been made after due consideration and observations over proposals sent by district Superintendents of Police, the IGP informed.
