Mass bird deaths at Bastar may be due to 'Fowl Cholera', 'Ranikhet' disease

Published on:

The sudden death of nearly 2,500 birds in a Government poultry farm in the divisional headquarters of the tribal dominated Bastar region had probably been caused by ‘Fowl Cholera’ and ‘Ranikhet’ disease, an official statement issued here late on Sunday night stated.

The Joint Director, Veterinary Health Services  Dr Bhanu Kavde  in his first appearance report  had stated that the birds had died on account of ‘Fowl Cholera’ and ‘Ranikhet’ disease, it stated.

However, the conclusive report of the New Delhi based Department of Animal Husbandary and Fisheries on samples sent by the HSDl laboratory in Bhopal is still awaited. The actual cause of the death of the birds would be known only then, the statement stated.
