The Chhattisgarh government on Monday issued a modified guideline to all district Collectors asking them to mark areas which have Covid-19 positivity of 4 percent or more as Category A.
Earlier guidelines had directed the Collectors to mark the complete district under Category A where the positivity rate was 4 percent or higher, an official communication said.
Under the new definition, if the Collectors do not want the keep complete district in Category A, they can narrow it to mark the specific areas or development block with high infection rate as A.
If the positivity rate in any one area of the district is above 5 percent, it will help to keep other areas cut off. Similarly, if the positivity rate remains 5 percent continuously for three-four days, the Collector can take necessary steps for Covid control at the district level.
Already in districts with a 4 percent and more positivity rate, all schools and Anganwadi centres, libraries, swimming pools and other public places have been closed from 10 pm to 6 am.
Apart from this, Section 144 (prohibitory orders) and the Epidemic Act can be used if necessary.
