Terror of Maoist insurgents prevailed in internal parts of Bastar as the week-long protest call entered second day on Tuesday even if its impact was not quite visible in urban areas specially divisional headquarters Jagdalpur.

Due to bandh both rail and road traffic remained disrupted as the single passenger train ‘Waltair-Kirandul Passenger’ did not operate for the second day between Jagdalpur and Kirandul. On the other hand, Maoists trying hard to make the bandh call effective, searched a bus coming from neighbouring state Andhra Pradesh capital Hyderabad on National Highway 30 at Tongpal on the suspicion that police men were travelling in the bus but after checking they let the bus go on.

In Bijapur, Abujhmad area of Narayanpur, Dantewada buses remained off the road as also traffic remained closed on Kirandul to Sukma route and Kondagaon-Mardapal route. Only few taxis were seen plying even on main roads. Inter-state bus services also remained disrupted.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports claimed that while one special task force jawan was injured in a blast triggered by Maoists in Bijapur, one of the insurgents was arrested during search operation from Matrapalli under Madded Thana area of Bijapur

on Tuesday.
