Maoists release all seven abducted villagers

All seven people abducted from a village in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district were released by Naxalites on Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.

According to Sukma Superintendent of Police Sunil Sharma, the seven were let off after some people from Kunded village and neighbouring areas reached the Maoist camp.

Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu said in a statement that senior villagers were sent to the Maoists to pacify them, leading to the release.

Details of any harm done to the villagers or imposition of any condition could be known only after they are questioned, he added.

The seven villagers were picked up earlier this week from separate localities of Kunded   village in Sukma district.
