The injured jawan has been admitted to hospital in critical condition, police said. According to police, on Saturday morning Nakulnar had its weekly market where jawans of district police and Central Reserve Police Forces were deputed for safety. Head Constable Gautam Pandey and Assistant Sub Inspector Satyawadi Sahu, both of district police while walking on duty ventured in to the marked for procuring some daily use item.

At the same time, insurgents clad in school students dress and equipped with sharp edged weapons attacked the cops. While the Maoists virtually severed the head of Gautam Pandey, they also hit with sharp edged weapon at head, back and waist of ASI Satyawadi Sahu. Sensing trouble after the murder of cop, traders and villagers started fleeing from the market leading to a

stampede like situation and taking advantage of which the rebels also vanished from the scene looting the SlR rifle and walkie-talkie of Gautam Pandey. Injured cops were brought to Dantewada District Hospital where Pandey succumbed to injuries while Sahu was struggling for life. According to sources, the attack was executed by small action group of rebels who are allegedly trained in targeting individuals in the guise of school children.
