In protest of Silakota encounter, Maoist organisation has called for Bharat Bandh on October 5. In a release, spokesman of Maoists Central Committee Abhay alleged that along with the Odisha and Union Governments, mineral mafia are depriving Tribal people of their lands.
He also accused the Naveen Patnaik Government of overlooking even the genuine grievances of people at the strength of central forces. To protest the accesses of the Government Bharat bandh is organised, the Maoist spokesman said. Notably, on 25 September, in the forests of Silakota, in Malkangiri district of the neighbouring Odisha, a joint team of Odisha police and Odisha Special Operation Group had gunned down 14 Maoists in an early morning fierce encounter.
