A hardcore Naxal carrying reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head was arrested by Dhanora police from forests of Hatchapai village in the district.
The insurgent was identified as Kiskodo lOS member and Telangana Jantana Sarkar President Raiju Potai alias Kavo (28) of Vartana village under Amabeda police station limits.
Reportedly, police arrested the insurgent with a banner by cordoning off the forested area in Hatchapai village. later, on interrogation, Raiju confessed of joining the Naxal movement in the year 2004 as Janata Sarkar member after being motivated by Barda Dalam Commander Kamlesh and Ful Singh.
After six years of serving in the movement, he was promoted to the post of Telangana Jantana Sarkar President in 2010. Along with Naxal Sarita Korram, Ful Singh, Gend Singh, Raju Usendi, the insurgent killed Constable Kamal alias Mohan Yadav in village Dhanora on April 21, 2012, torching vehicles deployed for construction work in village Bedama in the year 2013, firing on security forces in Kongud Polpapara and demolishing of a school building in Amabeda area in 2014.
later, a reward of Rs 1 lakh was announced on his head by the police. The Dhanora police performed the operations on the directives of Kondagaon Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Meena. The arrested insurgent was presented before Keshkal court and sent to jail on remand.
