On special initiative of Chief Minister Raman Singh, Manjhi Mukhiyas (heads of tribal communities) will be attending Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi on January 26 this year, officials stated.
It is noteworthy that Manjhis hold an important position as traditional heads of tribal society in Bastar region. They also play a significant role in 'Muriya Durbar' organized during famous Bastar Dussehra celebrations.
In a meeting with Chief Minister earlier, the delegation of Manjhis had expressed their desire to witness Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi. After which, Singh directed officials to make all the arrangements for New Delhi trip of Manjhis so that they may witness the Republic Day celebrations without any inconvenience.
