A 32-year-old businessman upset over his financial losses murdered his mother and tried to kill his brother and sister before committing suicide in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district, police said on Sunday.
Surendra Kutch, son of a retired Sales Tax officer, was also the relative of a former Congress MLA.
The incident took place in Arapur Basti on Saturday night, Additional Superintendent of Police O.P. Sharma said.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the man was upset due to his business losses, the official said.
He killed his mother Radhika (75) with a sharp weapon and attacked his brother and sister before committing suicide, the police said, without giving more details.
His siblings suffered injuries in the attack.
