Chhattisgarh Police on Saturday arrested a 42-year-old man for killing his daughter and injuring his wife and two other daughters in Durg district.
He was upset with his elder daughter’s love marriage without his approval. Durg Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallava identified him as Amardev Rai of Khursipar area.
On the night of February 10-11, wife Devanti and their daughters Vandana (22), Jyoti (18) and Preeti (17) were attacked with a sword by the man when they were asleep. He fled the spot.
The police rushed the injured to a hospital where Jyoti Rai was declared brought dead while three others were referred to a private hospital in critical condition.
Rai told the police that he was upset with Vandana’s love marriage with Abhishek Singh last year.
After marriage, Vandana had come to Rai’s house to care for her mother who recently had an operation.
Rai had a heated argument with the wife and daughters after he learnt that Vandana had come to his residence.
