Chhattisgarh Police on Sunday arrested a grain merchant for cheating a farmer of Rs 10 lakhs in March 2023 in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district.
Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma identified him as Sumeet Verma (32) of Bhorampur Kala village. He cheated Mahendra Deshmukh.
He told the police he paid only Rs 6.25 lakhs to Deshmukh after purchasing 325 quintal grains worth Rs 16.25 lakhs from him. A court sent Verma to jail.
