An assistant grade-2 worker posted in Mahasamund was duped of Rs 11 lakh in name of doubling the case, police said on Wednesday. The incident occurred about three months back however police has not been able to round up the accused.
According to police Ramesh Kumar Korram has lodged a report in this connection. “Korram is an assistant grade-II worker at employment exchange in Mahasamund. The complainant had known the accused in past and had purchased some kind of herbs from them on several occasions,” said officer investigating the case.
While selling the victims, herbs, the accused convinced him that he could double the money. They made believe Korram through trickery talks about their ability to double the money and asked him to meet in the temple of lord Hanuman at Raipur Railway station. “On July 20 Korram reached at the temple with cash Rs 11 lakh in three bags. The accused then told Korram to meditate for some time. When Korram opened eyes he found the bags as well as accused trio missing from the spot,” investigating officer said and added that FIR in this connection was registered on Wednesday.
Police said that based on complaint from Korram offense has been registered against Ranjeet Uike, Morbhan and Jwala Singh with Gunj police station. Notably, according to official police records 88 cases of cheating have been registered in past two months. This poses serious question over the policing in district.
