Chhattisgarh Police on Tuesday arrested a 29-year-old man for killing another man over a petty issue in December in Bilaspur district, the police said. Bilaspur Senior Superintendent of Police Parul Mathur identified him as Purushottam Maravi alias Tilli of Bilaspur.He crushed Raj Kumar Das of Odisha to death with stones on December 29 following which police lodged a murder case.Maravi was identified as the killer based on CCTV footage.
During investigation, police learnt that Maravi was working in a brick kiln in Raipur by hiding his identity. Police nabbed him and he confessed to committing the murder. Maravi told police that he killed Das after consuming alcohol after the latter abused him. A court sent Maravi to jail.
