The malaria positivity rate in the malaria-prone Bastar region in Chhattisgarh has fallen to an all-time low -- 0.21 percent.
The Special Secretary in the Health and Family Welfare Department, Priyanka Shukla, said in a statement on Tuesday that the positivity rate fell from 4.60 percent.
So far, in six phases of malaria elimination programme in Bastar, a total of 33.96 lakh tests were conducted and immediate treatment was done on positive cases, she said.
In the first phase, 64,646 malarial cases were registered in the region, which declined to 7,170 cases in the sixth leg.
The month-long sixth leg malaria elimination drive in Bastar was organised under the aegis of the Health Department and the National Health Mission (NHM). It ended on June 16.
The drive was being conducted in all 32 blocks in 12 aspirational districts, the statement said.
Anganwadi workers and Mitanins played a key role in the drive along with health workers who had to cross difficult terrains, river, rivulets and hillocks to reach their destinations.
