Malaria officers let it 'slide'

Published on:

The target of preparing 1,12,000 malaria slides of people suffering from fever in the city could not be met for the year 2013.

Malaria officers have reprimanded the field workers and have instructed to achieve the target for 2014.

Out of the targeted 1,12,000 slides, 1,08,000 slides were made in Raipur city and only 2,30,000 slides were made in the rural areas of the district against the target of 2,50,000 slides. The shortfall in slides was caused mainly because of poor performance of the field workers in Raipur city, Tilda and Arang.

The target for 2014 is to make 1,30,000 malaria slides from Raipur city and three lakh slides from rural areas in the district. Also, it was decided in a recently-held meeting of health officers that if the target for 2014 is not achieved, strict action will be taken against the field workers.
