Taking a cue from past years fatalities due to dengue and malaria which raised their heads in rainy season, the district Malaria department has decided to conduct 20 camps in the city within one month for prevention and treatment of these diseases.

In the camps, blood test of people suffering from fever will be conducted and they would also be given tips about the prevention. According to department sources, 9 people had died of Dengue or Malaria out of the 250 patioents were identified suffering from these diseases in the year 2011 whereas in 2012 3 people died out of 150 detected suffering from Malaria/Dengue in the capital.

Due to excessive rains and lack of proper sanitation, there are chances of these diseases raising their heads again in the city specially in damp and low lying areas. Keeping this in view the district  Malaria Department will conduct camps in different areas.

On August 2, camps were organised at 4 places in which 4 people were detected suffering from Malaria. On Thursday too camps were organised at Trimurti Nagar (devendra nagar), laxman nagar Gudhiyari, Changorabhatha and Bhairav Nagar (Tikrapara). By the end of August 12 more such camps would be organised given the fact that in the end of Monsoon season Malaria/ Dengue outbreak feared due to prevalence of mosquitoes.
