Make Dhamtari clean: Collector to officers

Published on:

Collector Bhim Singh chaired a meeting of corporators and officers concerned on encouraging citizens towards a ‘Swachh Dhamtari’ and making Dhamtari an Open Defecation Free town. Mayor Archana Chaubey was also present in the meeting.

The Collector directed the officials to launch an impressive public awareness campaign and motivate people. He said that it was necessary for all sections of the society to be self-motivated and come ahead in joining this initiative rather than waiting for public speeches and workshops to persuade them.

The Collector said that public toilets should be constructed in all areas. He said that the cash amount of Rs 20,000 which would be given to them would be a token of appreciation to motivate them further and not included in the expenditure for the public toilets. He expressed annoyance towards the slow progress of construction of public toilets.

The corporators complained about the sub engineers for the delay in acting on which the Collector ordered the Municipal Commissioner to compulsorily allocate the amount to constructors after they produce the bill, otherwise action would be taken against the Sub Engineer concerned.

He said that he had a plan for the Municipality to go door-to-door to collect garbage in the future and has already sent a proposal to the government.

Collector Singh explained that for the overall development of the town, contribution of citizens was extremely important.  If the citizens themselves are aware and alert about cleanliness around them and come together to work on it then the ‘Swachhta’ revolution would be a sure success here, he added.
