Electrification of villages, schools, health centres and Anganwadis along with ‘Majra-Tolas’ is the top priority of State government, said Additional Chief Secretary of Energy Department N Baijendra Kumar while addressing a high-level meeting here at Vidyut Seva Bhawan on Friday.
During the meeting, Kumar interacted with various Executive Directors and Superintending Engineers of the Chhattisgarh state-owned power companies and directed them to soon implement the announcements made by the Chief Minister during ‘lok Suraj Abhiyan’ related to electricity.
“The development of power sector in Chhattisgarh has also been praised at national level meetings and maintaining it this way is a challenging responsibility. This can be achieved by completing works on time,” he said.
According to Kumar, power supply is not only related directly with people but Chief Minister is also the Head of the Energy Department; therefore by quickly resolving consumers’ power supply related problems the power companies can set an example.
He stressed on having advance preparedness for dealing with any kind of unexpected power supply related emergencies during the coming monsoon season.
Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company limited (CSPDCl) Ankit Anand informed that for upgrading the power supply system of Chhattisgarh a detailed project report has been prepared with special focus on villages and agriculture sector.
“By March 2017, all villages and by March 2018, all residential areas will have power supply. In the current fiscal we have decided to electrify 198 villages and energise 20,000 agricultural pumps,” Anand said.
