Bastar royal family scion Kamal Chandra Bhanj Deo was Saturday accorded warm welcome on his maiden visit to Jagdalpur after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party as welcome programmes were organised at several places in the town.

leaving apart the calculations of political gain or loss by awakened citizens, no one wanted to lag behind in wishing the young Maharaja on his return from Raipur after 72 hours of joining active politics. In addition to large cadre of Bharatiya Janata Party, members of ‘Pravir Vahini’ were enthusiastically active to make the occasion memorable. Tribal folks as well as others jostled with each others to welcome Bhanj Deo in traditional style showering flowers on him amid fireworks and din of ‘Mander’.

Notably, entry of the royal family scion in to BJP is seen as much needed boost to the political prospects of the ruling Saffron Party even if the opposition Congress claimed that impact of Royal Palace on Bastar political mood was no more the same as was Maharaja Pravir Chandra Bhanj deo’s regime. Before reaching the divisional headquarters, Kamal Chandra Bhanj Deo was also accorded welcome at Charama, Kanker, Keshkal, Pharasgaon, Kondagaon, Bhanpuri and other places by tribal people including Manjhi, Chalki, Mukhia, Perma, Member and Memberins associated to Royal Palace deeply.
