The BJP State president Ramsevak Paikra on Friday has termed the wrong statement and allegations made by State Congress president and Union Minister of State for agriculture Charandas Mahant against Chief Minister Raman Singh as fret, frustration and melancholy developed from the defeat in the Assembly election.
He said that the statement of Mahant was an insult to the public mandate. It is the result of the development-oriented schemes and fulfilment of promises by the BJP and Raman Singh that people of Chhattisgarh have considered their future secured in the hands of the BJP for the third time. Mahant’s statement was the result of the people of Chhattisgarh denied and deprived the Congress of power, he added.
Paikra said it was totally untrue that the Congress had promised that the State Government would purchase paddy at Rs 2,000 per quintal, if the party come to power and the Government would bear the additional burden of Rs 700 per quintal on the purchase of paddy through is financial resources. The truth is that the Congress did not make any such declaration in its manifesto.
Now, as the party has been deprived of power, Mahant has been making this false statement that the party had made it public at its various press meets and public meetings that the Congress’ State Government would bear the additional burden, to get sympathy from the farmers. Why the Congress made such an important fact in its election manifesto, he questioned. It was the indication of the preplanned scheme and intention of the Congress’ to defraud the farmers with malafide intention and opportunism.
Paikra said that Dr Raman Singh and the BJP had made it clear even before the election that the State Government would give Rs 300 per quintal bonus on paddy and would make effort to purchase it at Rs 2,100 per quintal. Order for Rs 300 per quintal bonus on paddy purchase had been issued. Before the election, the BJP had urged the Central Government to declare Rs 2,000 support price of paddy, as it comes under the jurisdiction of the Centre. It is unfortunate that the Union Minister of State for agriculture and representative of Chhattisgarh Mahant did not make any effort in this direction, but making baseless and untrue allegations against the BJP.
Paikra said that there was no difference in the word and the deed of Raman Singh and the BJP. The glaring example of which is that soon after in swearing-in, the chief Minister wrote Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to make the paddy support price Rs 2,100. Paikra urged Mahant to cooperate the Government to get Rs 2,100 support price of paddy sanctioned from the central Government and not to waste his energy in making unnecessary and untrue allegations.
