'Mahant dreams of treasure instead of developing State'

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Ramsevak Paikra on Wednesday said that Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) president Charandas Mahant dreams of finding treasure somewhere instead of Chhattisgarh’s development.

The entire country is making a mockery of Chhattisgarh due to Mahant’s ‘treasure dream’ as he has already seen the results of a treasure hunt in Dodiyakheda village in Uttar Pradesh based on someone’s dream, he said in a statement issued here. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) carried out the excavations at Mahant’s instance while finding nothing at the site which made it pack its bag from the Uttar Pradesh village, Paikra said.

By promoting superstition, Mahant got the excavations done for the so-called hidden treasure at Dodiyakheda for which Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should, in fact, expel him from the Union Cabinet, he said. Paikra said that Mahant did not have the courage to quit his post as Union Minister like Chief Minister Raman Singh who vacated the post of Union Minister in 2003 for looking after party affairs in Chhattisgarh.

He said that Mahant is powerless in the Chhattisgarh unit of Congress party as all of it had been given away to former Chief Minister and Senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi by the Congress High Command. That is why, Mahant is glued to the seat of Union Minister for six more months before he gets into political oblivion, Paikra said.
