A magisterial probe was on Saturday ordered into the escape of five prisoners from the Mahasamund District Jail in Chhattisgarh.
Official sources said District Collector Doman Singh ordered the probe and appointed the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) as the investigating officer.
The officer will study the security arrangements in the jail, the circumstances leading to the escape and fixing of responsibility.
A report has to be submitted within one month.
Earlier, the Chhattisgarh Police suspended four policemen, including the chief jail guard, for dereliction in duty.
Five prisoners -- Dhansai (33), Damrudhar (24), Daulat (23), Rahul (22) and Karan (21) -- scaled a prison wall and escaped. All five have since been caught.
