Collector and District Magistrate Alarmel Mangai D has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the case of a suicide committed by a student of Government Higher Secondary School at Sarona after allegedly being scolded and beaten up by his teacher early this month.
The Collector ordered the inquiry based on a report published in a local newspaper on January 7 that the Class IX student Arun Kumar Kunjam, resident of Daldali villagek, committed suicide after being scolded and beaten up by his teacher at school at Sarona in the district. Taking serious cognizance of the news report, the Collector has directed the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) to probe the incident and submit a report within a month.
The terms of reference for the inquiry is to record the entire sequence of events, date and time of the boy’s death, reasons for the boy’s death, person responsible for boy’s death and other relevant information to be included in the report.
