The lok Sabha election is likely to be held in April and in the same month two Rajya Sabha seats from the State will fall vacant.
The seats will fall vacant after the completion of the tenure of Congress treasurer Motilal Vora and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shiv Pratap Singh.
The election for the two seats may take place itself during the Budget session of the State Assembly, political analysts say. leaders aspiring for the seats have already started lobbying in their respective parties.
Vora is a member of Rajya Sabha for the last two consecutive terms. Party may again give him a chance. But the chances are less for Singh as party is unlikely to give him another term, sources said.
Since the lok Sabha election may be held in April, the parties are expected to decide on the Rajya Sabha nominations after finalisation of tickets for the lok Sabha election.
They may select somebody who would be denied lok Sabha ticket. There are large numbers of aspirants in both the parties who aspire to get into the Rajya Sabha. There are leaders who don’t want to contest lS election but want to get into Parliament.
Similarly, those who would be defeated in the recently concluded Assembly election could also eye for Rajya Sabha berth.
