loans worth around Rs 52 crore have been disbursed to women self-help groups (SHGs) in Chhattisgarh since 2003, a Government official informed on Saturday.
The State’s Women and Child Development Department has distributed a loan of Rs 51 crore 94 lakh 80 thousand to 28,324 women self-help groups in the span of last 12-and-a-half year under ‘Chhattisgarh Mahila Kosh’ loan scheme. Women SHGs are active in the state and engaged in several kinds of work, particularly in rural areas.
The State Government has been running this loan scheme since 2003 to provide easy loans to women SHGs. Under the scheme, first the SHGs are provided loan of Rs 50,000 at an annual interest rate of 3 per cent.
