A lizard was found in the mid-day meal served to 22 students at Gandhiganj government primary school Gaurela in Bilaspur district on Thursday afternoon.
A timely intervention and alertness of the school staff averted a major mishap.
District Collector, Bilaspur, Dr Sanjay Alang informed The Pioneer that the students were immediately stopped form eating when the lizard was detected in the food and they were immediately taken to a nearby Community Health Centre (CHC), where after being observed for nearly three hours they were found fit and fine.
Alang admitting that a lizard was found in the meal further appreciated the alertness of school staff for immediately approaching nearby hospital after taking advice from local administrative officers.
“Even though they were stopped from eating the food, as a precautionary measure all the 22 students were taken to nearby government hospital for treatment in case of any eventuality.”
“We heaved a sigh of relief that after observation no sign of food poisoning was found,” he added.
