Four people died while one was injured after lightning struck them in a farm under Kartala police station limits on Saturday. The condition of inured is reported to be out of danger, police said.
According to the police, the incident happened around 12.30 pm in a field at Sarakdukla village about 8 km from Kartala police station.
“The victims were sitting under a tree after taking lunch when suddenly climate changed and thunder showers started. Suddenly, lightning struck the tree under which they were sitting,” Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) A Khanna said, adding immediately after the incident, they were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Five out of four persons sitting under the tree succumbed to injuries during treatment in hospital while one was saved, the ASI informed. Victims were identified as Kesal Singh Rathiya (50), Amar Singh (45), Shiva Prasad (51) and Ashok Singh (30) while the injured was identified as Bihari Singh.
