Promoting works of potters engaged in manufacturing of ‘earthen lamps’ for Diwali, Chief Minister Raman Singh on Tuesday called upon people to light up traditionally prepared earthen lamps.

“Besides, generating employment for thousands of potters, use of ‘earthen lamps’ protect environment from getting polluted,” Singh stated while interacting with office-bearers of ‘Mati Kala Board’ at his official residence in Raipur.

A delegation of the Board on Tuesday had called on the Chief Minister and apprised him about initiatives being taken by the Board to promote the use of earthen lamps.

Meanwhile, the delegation also informed Singh that around 15000 potters in the State are registered with the Board. To encourage people for using ‘Earthen lamps’, exhibition of these lamps were held in local markets, emporiums and malls.
