life is getting back to normalcy in south Bastar with weakening intensity of rainfall gradually on the sixth consecutive day here. Road connectivity had been restored in areas affected by the flood situation especially with neighbouring states of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
With rainfall losing intensity in the southern parts of the State, monsoon is now advancing towards the northern parts even as connectivity from Jagdalpur to Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, Raipur, Narayanpur, Bijapur, Sukma and Dantewada had been restored. Buses have started plying to the various destinations from the morning hours.
Intermittent torrential rain for the last five days had crippled normal life in south Bastar with rivers and nullahs swelled up to the extent that some of the bridges and roads remained inundated for days. The Indravati river's water level is now below the old bridge and the same is receding fast. The district administration has already reviewed the situation and is continuing with the relief operations.
Meanwhile, there is still no trace of Ratenga village resident Bholuram who got carried away by strong currents of the Indravati river at Chitrakot waterfall on Saturday.
