Chhattisgarh Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal today suggested that e-trading portal National Agricultural Market (NAM) should have a provision of adding photographs of products, farmers and buyers.
He added that a provision should also be made to allow farmers to sell their yield, the time highest prices are available in the market.
Welcoming the trading portal under one country – one market policy, the minister said that the Prime Minister has taken a great step towards doubling the income of farmers in India.
He was speaking on Agri-marketing reform at a meeting in Vigyan Bhavan here. The meeting was chaired by Union Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh. State agriculture ministers and Chhattisgarh Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture) Ajay Singh were present at the meeting.
Shri Agrawal said that farmers in the country can sell or purchase many goods through a single medium with the help of National Agricultural Market (NAM) portal. This portal will help the seller in getting maximum price for the yield and the buyer too will be able to purchase notified agriculture yield as per the need.
Drawing the Centre’s attention towards farmer’s problem in buying and selling goods in National Agricultural Market portal, the minister said that buying and selling of agricultural yield has started through e-NAM platform in the state. But the process is very time taking. He suggested that the time taken for buying and selling should be reduced. He added that 14 mandis in the state have been connected with the e-portal.
He said that now farmers have to deposit their mandi tax immediately instead of 14 days grace period given to them earlier.
In Chhattisgarh, even a less educated and financially weak person can deal in marketing by getting a trading license on the basis of availability of yield and regional situation. He suggested that license should be given at the mandi committee level.
