Indian Institute of Management Raipur (IIM Raipur) is organising a special session with ‘Mumbai Dabbawalas’ on March 1, 2014 at its campus. ‘Mumbai Dabbawalas’ is a tiffin service that started in Mumbai in the year 1890. At

present, there are over 5000 Dabbawalas and they collectively deliver 200000 dabbas.

They are specifically renowned for holding a world record in ‘Best Time Management’ with Six Sigma Rating.

IIM officials informed that ‘The Dabbawala System’ has always been an attractive topic of research for business schools including Harvard Business School.

It’s interesting to study how they have never been unsuccessful in delivering the lunch boxes on time- irrespective of weather, riots or floods.

‘Dabbawalas’ will deliver a guest lecture on their error free and operationally efficient ‘Meal Distribution Network’.

The lecture will provide students a very

different perspective of ‘Operations Management’ topics such as Supply Chain Management and logistics Management.
